Sweeter than candy

With a dirty nose pressed hard against the window
Of a candy store one day
A ragged little girl stood barefoot
While the hurried crowd went madly on their way

One lady stopped and smiled she said, "I think I'll go inside,
And would you like to come along with me?"
Then behind that dirty face, she saw a smile that made her day
They just don't make candy that sweet

Then she bought some shoes for her little feet
Then dressed her up fit for a queen
And with a smile that came from heaven
She said, "Ma'am, I sure do thank you"
With an angel twinkle in her eyes
She said, "Ma'am, I sure do thank you
And Boy, I sure look pretty"
And then she asked, "Are you God's wife?"

Are we walkin' too fast to see
A barefoot child on a lonely street
Are we rushin' by the ones in need
Or will some child play for you and me
