Infamis

Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky

Infamis
My name is insignificant
for I'm just a witness in
a case that'll never be on court
yeah, an act of insignificance
I met him on the dusty cold seam of the day
in a house dirt-dipped and true
and somebody told aloud sayin' nothing
but his eyes were fulla his wet woe

I tried to be a fabulous thing
of what he'd assumin' who
I am in this dear old bad-lands-town
rider, gambler, gunmen, groom
one night we got sober
and he told me this and that
he's truely planning to leave
leaving all the rifles'n'saddles
for his destiny is far away,
it's no more here, it's right across the sea

Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky
Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky

Forty-third night since he stole away
he suddenly appears in my dream
he shot on big hole in the neck of my horse
laughing and worshipping me :
"a man got to do what a man got to do,
don't you think it's time to leave and..."
I cry out to answer, wake up all in shame
for I knew he'd forget my significant name, too

Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky
Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky
Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky
Leaving the cowboys hangin' in the sky
