Ludhiam

Echoes of silence

Ludhiam
It's half past four i'm still awake
Savage cries still in my ears
At times i just try not to sleep
Just can't stand the nightmares
These memories are wounds deep in me
I knew that they would remain
Although there's nothing much left
For i have gone insane

They call me a hero, they say
Who have i saved today?
Unable to live decently
Mind obliterated
A hero who silently cries
In a bare room forsaken
Drowning in regret
His life, too, was taken

Old broken warrior, confronting the truth
(after all, nothing has changed)
Guilt is a burden too heavy for him
(in a world he was trying to save)
Now, just a man
(who's afraid all he's done was in vain)
Speechless are the dead, my friend
(yet the echoes of their silence remain)

Now i see that all this
Will never end
And my heart is so heavy with grief
Men who enslave man
Blind led by the blind
Into nothingness

All of this meaningless greed that destroys our lives
Is it inherent to us all?
Everyday, everyday now i strive and try to forget
Though my bloody hands keep reminding me

And yet those echoes of silence remain
Despite all indifference, scorn and disdain

All these questions have been left unanswered
And this silent shroud, it still deafens me
I take my last breath as i slip away

And yet those echoes of silence remain
Despite all indifference, scorn and disdain
