The sun and the moon

The price of grain

The sun and the moon
All the sorrow, tears and pain
Isn't worth the price of grain
If God is there, and God is sane
Surely God will send the rain

Defeated I kneel, unable to stand
Or see the sense in anything
Wasting away beneath a burning sun
Between starvation and the roar of the gun

And God knows
I've never asked for anything
But as surely as these days are long
If this is fate there's something drastically wrong

Speaking languages I don't understand
Economics of supply and demand
Resolutions are as empty as bellies
As barren as the land
This life is in the palm of your hands
As worthless as the grains of the sand

I'm striving for the strength to go on
Body's breathing but my spirit has gone
I search for meaning but around me there's none
Please don't tell me everything
Is printed on the palms of our hands

Hear us shouting at the skies
Drowning out the children's cries
Will I ever close my eyes

All the sorrow, tears and pain
Isn't worth the price of grain
If God is there and god is sane
Surely God will send the rain
Amen
Is it worth the price of the grain?
